Detection and characterization of impurities on paper filters

Clemex Technologies inc. nnounces today that it has sold three systems for a new image analysis
microscopy application, the detection and characterization of impurities on
Paper Filters. Senior Automotive IL, USA (second system, $58,108), HydraForce,
IL, USA ($61,866) and Teleflex Fluid Systems, CT, USA ($63,232) acquired the
three instruments.
Detection and characterization of impurities on Paper Filter is performed
increasingly by manufacturing industries, mainly in Heavy Industry, Automotive
and Aerospace. The filtration method is also widely used by instruments and
other products manufactured for healthcare. The technique is quite simple in
itself. A known quantity of a cleaning liquid that was used to wash
manufactured parts at some stage in the process is force through a paper
filter. This action leaves all impurities originating from the parts washed,
on the filter, which is then placed under a microscope for inspection.
Detection and characterization of those impurities is much more difficult and
must be performed by a qualified technician with the aid of a microscope and
it may take hours per filter to obtain results.
The new Clemex PS3 Particle and Shape Analysis system has been slightly
modified in order to adapt it for this new application. The instrument allows
fully automatic analysis of a filter in 10 minutes or less.
