Inductive Loop Detection

Nortech’s loop detectors have been renowned for their reliability and durability for many years. Loop detectors are used to identify the presence of vehicles by means of an inductive loop buried under the road.

Nortech can offer both single channel loop detectors for simple barrier control, and dual or multi channel loop detectors to identify the presence of vehicles by means of two independent inductive loops. Both single and dual loop detectors are available in boxed and card format.

The dual channel loop detectors can manage both barrier triggering and safety by setting one channel to pulse detection and the other to presence detection. Alternatively, they can be set to A-B logic mode where a vehicle’s progress across two loops can be monitored and analysed to determine its direction. This can be used for ‘wrong way’ detection, or capacity counting when used with a CT222 capacity counter.

These microprocessor-based loop detectors benefit from a detect filter for screening out unwanted inputs, and a frequency indicator. Nortech's loop detectors are suitable for parking control and motorised door or gate applications.
