Neurodynamics
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)
(PDF)
ANPR
Overview
Neurodynamics
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)
system is one of the world's leading ANPR systems, employing state of
the art neural network techniques in its character recognition. This
ensures efficiency and integrity of the system for use in either high
volume or standard traffic flow situations. Neurodynamics
ANPR is suitable for many different
applications, including car parks, traffic surveys, petrol filling
stations (as a "drive-off" deterrent), and to detect stolen
vehicles if used in conjunction with database searching. Neurodynamics
ANPR also has time scheduling as a standard
facility to offer vehicle access control for commercial and industry
entry/exit scenarios.
Integration
with the Witness
digital video system provides a complete solution to any number plate
recognition requirement.
ANPR Features
Neurodynamics
Automatic Number Plate Recognition, ANPR
offers users the following unrivalled features:
- Unprecedented
reliability due to neural network based character recognition
- Operational
speeds exceeding 100 MPH/ 160 KPH
- Multiple
cameras can be monitored using one channel via a sequencing facility
- International
plate formats
- Capture,
storage & reviewing of number plates
- Ability
to initiate automated responses such as opening of barriers, email,
SMS messaging, or image transmission to central locations
- Real-time
number plate searching against user defined databases
- Wavelet
compression for image storage which strikes an ideal balance between
storage space and image quality
- Compatibility
with existing CCTV systems
- Video
and data transmission across PSTN, ISDN, ADSL, LAN, WAN, Intranet
and Internet
- Hard
disc storage from 120 GB to 1024 TB
- Archive/backup
to CD or DVD
- 1,
2, 4, 8 cameras per unit. Units can be combined to create larger
systems
Neurodynamics
ANPR
is the complete solution for applications requiring number plate
recognition, video capture and storage, text and image databasing and
remote system access.
Based
on a proven Witness
digital video capture and transmission system, this unique product
includes all the elements needed to:
- Detect
and recognise number plates.
- Capture,
store and allow viewing of both numberplate and wider overview
images (single images or video sequences).
- Perform
numberplate searching against a database.
- Initiate
automated responses, such as opening of automated barriers,
triggering audio -messaging or dial - up to central locations
- Provide
video and data transmission across LAN, WAN Internet and Intranet.
Neurodynamics
ANPR
is fully configurable for:
- Contrast
- Plate
size
- Skew/
Rotation compensation
- Imaging
cropping
- Country/
numberplate format
Neurodynamics
ANPR
is also available as a range of highly configurable software/hardware
modules available for integration into OEM applications. Entex
would
be happy to discuss specific requirements.
ANPR Applications
Toll
Booth Application
Motorists
can automatically pay road tolls using Neurodynamics
ANPR. Their number plate is recognized and cross-referenced
to their toll Account. The relevant charge is then deducted using the
client's accounting software. Apprehension of any motorists driving
through without paying becomes a very simple procedure, as does
notification of stolen vehicles. Additionally, traffic flow can be
monitored and is eased by the automation of toll collection.
Petrol
Forecourt Application
Neurodynamics
ANPR can
be linked to multiple databases notifying operators of:
- Drive-offs
- operators are prompted to request payment in advance
- Credit
fraud - operators are warned of stopped credit cards associated with
particular cars
- Key
customers - managers can receive email alerts on their mobile phones
letting them know when key customers drive in. This allows them to
provide a more personalized service
- Stolen
vehicles - operators are notified to inform police that a stolen
vehicle is on their site.

Ford F350s are the most attractive vehicle on the market, for
Prince George car thieves that is.
"The trucks continue to be the most frequently stolen
vehicle in the city and in the north-central region according to
our claims," said Christine Silver of ICBC. "ICBC is
warning Prince George owners of Ford F350s to take an active
role in protecting their vehicles from theft, after a
statistical review charted an increase in auto crime rates
during 2007."
Prince George RCMP have put a significant focus on auto crime
in the area, with a rotating fleet of BAIT Cars now deployed
across the city, a week-long visit by the province's specialized
IMPACT auto crime team, the use of the Automated License Plate
Recognition program which scans up to 600 passing vehicles an
hour to spot stolen ones, a dedicated crime prevention task
force within the Prince George detachment dedicated to auto
theft and break-and-enters, plus other initiatives aimed at this
foundation crime.
Silver said a passive immobilizer is highly recommended for
F350 owners since most of those trucks do not come with them as
a stock feature. Anti-theft devises are strongly urged for all
vehicle owners in the city.
