Isonics Corp. Launches New Line of Intelligent Digital Video Solutions for Homeland Security Applications; Products Garner Strong Interest from Security Authorities for Mass Transit, Critical Infrastructure and High Profile Buildings
Under the strategic partnership, Isonics is offering a range of systems that integrate proprietary technology to provide advanced security applications, as well as a broad functionality to be deployed in different types of venues and installations. These range from an enterprise platform for mission-critical applications capable of supporting web-based networks consisting of dozens up to thousands of cameras. These intelligent solutions can be easily retrofitted into existing digital or analog camera networks or can be provided on a full-scope, turnkey basis.
In addition to standard digital video monitoring, Isonics' intelligent video security solutions offer a range of advanced optional intelligent features for image analysis and processing. These advanced features include:
-- Facial Recognition -- simultaneously detect, capture and compare multiple faces in real time. Recorded face images are compared to selected subject images for better than 99% success under optimized conditions.
-- Iris Recognition - like snowflakes, the human iris is entirely unique. This biometric capability is more comfortable than retina scanning and is quick and non-contact and offers unmatched accuracy compared to other alternatives from as far as 3 to 10 inches.
-- Object Tracking - the object tracking module can track and record multiple objects simultaneously, including "lost baggage" capability which associates objects to a person and can detect and alarm for various unusual circumstances, such as baggage left behind.
-- Body Tracking & Behavior Recognition - movement of individuals can be tracked in real time or from stored video and can be programmed to alarm based on pre-defined behaviors.
-- License Plate Recognition - license plates can be read as vehicles enter or exit from parking lots and garages as well as at highway speeds with the plate number being linked to a "recognized" vehicle model.
ISS-powered intelligent video surveillance solutions have a proven track record in the global homeland security marketplace, and have been deployed on every continent. Applications include point-of-sale retail uses, metro mass transit stations in China, banks in Europe and South America, ports and oil refineries, and safe-city initiatives in Europe.
"Our initial marketing efforts have resulted in considerable customer interest due to some of the unique features that our product offers," commented Boris Rubizhevsky, Isonics' Vice Chairman and President of HSDC. "While there are numerous non-security uses of this intelligent technology in banking and retail, we are focusing on those opportunities consistent with our homeland security mission. Our initial targets for marketing these solutions are high profile buildings, mass transit facilities and critical infrastructure facilities. The intelligent video security solutions are ideal for providing surveillance within and outside of office buildings, mass transit facilities, ports, bridges and tunnels, as well as such sensitive areas as electric power and chemical plants. Having the capability to design customer-specific solutions based on the above or customer-unique features we develop should position us well to serve a wide range of customers worldwide."
"We are very pleased to announce our partnership with Isonics HSDC," remarked Dr. Nabil Akrout, CEO of ISS. "This relationship will strengthen our position as a standard for intelligent digital video surveillance in the homeland security market."
The system has a fully open architecture allowing Isonics to provide customized application-specific solutions with the ability for the system to react to complex events with complex system responses. Because this is a software-driven Security Operating System, all of these optional features are included with the initial purchase, only requiring a special activation code to enable end-users to grow the system capability as their needs require.
Isonics has indicated that its intelligent video security solutions are available for immediate order and interested parties should contact HSDC's Columbia, Maryland, office at (410) 381-5254 for additional information.
About Isonics Corporation
Isonics Corporation has three business divisions: (1) Homeland Security and Defense (2) Semiconductor, and (3) Life Sciences. Isonics is a world leader in isotopically engineered materials and through its semiconductor division produces isotopically pure silicon-28 chemicals, silicon-on-insulator wafers, wafer reclaim services and test wafers, including 300mm, for the semiconductor industry. Isonics' Life Sciences division markets and sells isotopes to the health care industry for the imaging and treatment of cancer. Stable isotopes can be thought of as ultra pure materials. This high degree of purification provides enhanced properties as compared to natural materials. Our efforts in the Homeland Security segment are nascent (notwithstanding our operations at Protection Plus Security Corporation) at the present time as we proceed to develop further our IMS and neutron-based detection technologies.
