I I-Cube provides mobile license plate recognition at affordable rates (R850 per month, excl. vat), allowing real time reaction to stolen or suspected vehicles.  A camera connected to a PC captures an image of the car and compares this license plate to a local database.  This license plate is compared to suspected stolen vehicles, allowing proactive reaction to crime, stopping a crime before it occurs (most CIT crimes use stolen vehicles).  The supplied camera is attached to the supplied portable PC and both are installed into a local vehicle (SAPS or an armed reaction vehicle).  The LPR system works automatically, generating an alarm when a suspected vehicle is detected.  Standard operational procedures with SAPS are then followed, allowing SAPS to recover the vehicle.       If you have no crime (or stolen vehicles in your area) it is possible to extend the use of the license plate data obtained to other, non crime areas, such as the identification of resident vehicles which would be allowed into the area or marketing, sending messages about local specials at a shopping centre or security updates (gate gang operating in the area) or a message to all BMW owners when it is time to upgrade or other such marketing uses.
