HOWARD COLLEGE CAMPUS

Room G-01, FACULTY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

17:30 FOR 18:00

This month’s topic will be:

"Imaging in Africa : The use of advanced imaging solutions for measurement and control"

Presented by Barry Fryer Dudley

Advanced imaging technology is gaining popularity in the measurement and control industry due to increased sophistication in the controls required. Join us for this interesting talk on imaging applications. Some applications include: image analysis (counting and sizing), accept reject systems, stack emissions, forest fire detection, license plate recognition, facial identification and verification areas.

The talk will be a live, real time, practical demonstration of the technologies in action, with examples from KZN sites. End-users will be present to share their experiences.  If you would like to submit any images for analysis during the talk, please contact I-Cube on images@I-Cube.co.za .

Barry Fryer Dudley is currently employed by I-Cube, which focuses exclusively on integrated, intelligent imaging, where a camera is connected to a PC and intelligently performs a decision based on information within an image. Barry has completed an MBA and MSc.

The committee encourages members and interested parties to attend this meeting. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

I-Cube or Integrated Intelligent Imaging (I3) focuses of proactive crime prevention using real time links to multiple internal and external databases in order to generate a warning prior to crime occurring, allowing anticipation of the offence.  All the projects I-Cube is involved with have a central theme of using images, as this allows both the real time and covert nature of the proactive crime prevention systems to operate to the best effect.
