Question 7: Please
DOWNLOAD, UNZIP and RUN the SeeLane
Demo ------------------------ Overview -------- The
SeeLane demo is a functional version of the SeeLane product without the
hardware (frame grabber, IO card) and the OCR DLL services. The
purpose of this demo is to show the interface and the output features
of SeeLane. This is very useful for early integration. Demo
Features: -
Fully functional interface. -
Supports an authorized vehicle database file. -
Output the results via serial port. -
Act as a DDE server and notifies clients of any incoming vehicles. -
Accept recognition data from ini file The
SeeLane Demo interface is identical to the full SeeLane version. The
differences are: -
Images are loaded from a file instead of being captured from a
frame grabber. -
Vehicle codes are not identified. You will need the full version
and a security plug to use the OCR features. Using
SeeLane Demo ------------------ Activate
SeeLaneDemo.exe. The
simulation is started automatically. To stop simulation, press F3. In
the main screen, select one of the lane tabs (lane 1, lane 2, ...) and
press F2 or select 'Simulate Sensor' from the 'File' menu to display an
image on the screen. Each additional F2 will randomly select another
image. You
can also press F3 to get a continuous simulation. The
identified code, person name (from the database) and the time will be
added to the list on the lower left part of the screen. To
send the results via serial port, press F8 or select 'Settings' from the
'File' menu. The properties dialog will open - Select the Communication
tab. Check the 'Enable' box and select the appropriate port. Press
'Configure port' to show the Windows default port configuration dialog. Press
'Ok' to continue. SeeLane will automatically send any identification
results to the selected port. In case of errors an error message will
appear in the 'General System Status' box. Question 8: If
you have a chance, please read a little or have a look at some pictures,
on facial recognition! Introduction
to the facts,
features and benefits of Face recognition Installation
& user manual VERSION 2-2 (1.3MB PDF) Technical
explanation of the HNeT technology Question 9: Please
DOWNLOAD and run Player.exe LPR
DEMO LPR
Demo of RSA Customised Plates. zip
(3 MB) 3.
Overview ----------- The
demo player introduces the powerful capabilities of our SeeCar vehicle
License Plate Recognition (LPR) software/system. It performs true
identification of the license plate in real time. The
player is capable of reading both bmp and jpg images of various types
(color, B&W, 8, 16, 24 & 32 bit per pixel). It performs
autodetection of image subtype (grayscale, color, number of bits per
pixel, etc.). The images are included in the same directory, and their
properties are configured in the format.ini configuration file. Note
that in case you would like to check it on your own images, please refer
to the "Checking Your Own Pictures" section at the end of this
document. The
player is best viewed under the 1024x768 display resolution. 4.
Running the player --------------------- 4.1
Operation If
the player comes compressed in a Zip file, first unzip the file into a
subdirectory (using Winzip). To
execute the recognition demo, activate the Player.exe file. The
demo will automatically start to run: Vehicle plate images of different
formats and qualities are displayed and identified. The default run
speed is medium, and you can change its speed or control its operation. The
identified code is displayed at the bottom window. The file processed by
the player, and the time required to identify the image are shown in the
right window. 4.2
Button control
'Rewind'
- rewind the player to the first image
'Back Single' - play back a single image
'Pause'
- pause the player
'Play' - play the
image
'Play Single' - play a single image
'Fast Forward'- fast forward the player to the last image
'Speed slidebar'-sets the player run speed (see description
below). 4.3
Properties dialog: 4.3.1
General Tab: -
Image Folder field - specifies the path to the images directory to read
images from. It can be edited both manually and using
"Browse..." button -
Use Windows Current Dir checkbox - cancels the previous field and uses
windows current directory instead (usually it's the directory in which
the player resides if it was launched by windows explorer). -
Bitmaps and Jpegs checkboxes - specify what types of images to read from
the selected above directory 4.3.2
Slide Show Tab: -
Auto Start checkbox - specifies whether to start "playing"
automatically upon application
start or properties change. -
Random play checkbox - if this checkbox is selected the images are
played in a
random order instead of preserving the directory order of image
files -
Speed slidebar - specifies the delay between two consequent images. This
delay is added in addition to the recognition time in order to allow
analysing the recognition results. Sliding to the left sets the fastest
player run speed (no delay is added). However, at this setting the
results will be hard to track. The slide is also duplicated on the main
display.
Notes: 1. Each of the 10 scale bars represent a 0.3 sec. delay
between the two consequent
images. This allows setting the delay between 0
(fast run) to 3 seconds (slow run).
2. jpg images can be played quicker than bmp ones due to disk
caching differences of these two picture types. 4.3.3
Font/Colors tab: -
Plate number font dialog - allows to choose a non-default font for
recognition results. -
Plate number color - allows to choose a non-default color for
recognition
results. -
Shadow effect checkbox - allows to show a shadow for recognition
results. 5.
System Requirements ---------------------- 5.1
Minimum: PC
486 or higher with a minimum of 16MB RAM running Windows 98/NT/2000/Me. Win
95 is not supported and might result in run-time errors. 5.2
Optimum: We
recommend a Pentium 3 550 or higher with 64MB RAM for optimum execution. A
stronger PC will result in faster recognition times, as indicated on the
right side. 6.
Checking Your Own Pictures ----------------------------- a.
Copy the following files to the folder that contains your own images :
1.Player.exe (from the Player Folder).
2.Format.ini (from the Player Folder). b.
Images Dimensions should be the same format as specified in the
format.ini
file (e.g., 768*288). In case they do not fit the configuration
settings,
the player will issue a warning. c.
If you use jpg images, we recommend to use a high quality compression
(best
is 100%) for better results. You
can also contact us to help you with the format.ini file based on your
images. LPR

TRAINING EXAM Q 1 - Please prepare a detailed quote, including a POWERPOINT presentation, system design, cost and full site requirements for the sale of a 2 lane LPR access control system. Q 2 - Please prepare a detailed quote, including a POWERPOINT presentation, system design, cost and full site requirements for the sale of a single camera facial ID system. Q 3 - Please find a folder on your CD called EXAM. In this folder will be face and license plate images. Please add the facial images to your facial ID software under the names provided. Please ID the people who appear in the files called UNKNOWN 1, 2 & 3. Please use the license plate recognition software to analyze the provided license plates and write down the total number of different TYPES of plates that were correctly read. So NP123, ND 123 and NA123 would be 1 and 123GP and WOLF2 would be 2 types. For those with TIME, you can TRY THIS on your own: Our crime stats must be the greatest obstacle to foreign investment in South Africa. On Tuesday, our minister of safety and security Charles Nqakula told us that bank robberies, murders and hijackings had increased in the country during 2006. No surprise - but that data held some shocking facts. This is the first time the murder rate has increased since the end of apartheid in 1994. The rate was up by 2.4% to 19,202, in the year to March 31. The number of bank robberies more than doubled and hijackings were up by 6%. Our government has increased its anti-crime budget - but this hasn't helped. So what if there has been a decrease in burglaries and rapes? There are still too many of these kinds of crimes; (the number of reported rapes was still a huge 52,617). The money that the taxpayer is spending on combating crime is obviously being poured down the drain. For South Africa's economy, the crime stats are worrying. As usual, we walk backwards and we blame the crime rate on apartheid. The police force - we are told - was once an instrument of oppression and now it has to be seen as the people's friend. But we've had democracy since 1994. The government has given more and more money to the police and the police force has almost doubled since 2002. Where does the fault lie? Is it because we have a police commissioner that's perceived by both the media and public to have contacts with shady people? Our government prefers to selectively focus on statistics over the past five years - because they look better. These stats show an overall 18.6% drop in contact crimes and a 23.7% decrease in property-related crimes. Whoopee. And the minister has the audacity to tell us that he's sure crime will come down further and sees a rosy picture for the future. While we can't blame the entire mess on Jackie Selebi, his presence as head of the police force doesn't help. In any other country he'd have been sent packing long ago. As for Charles Nqakula, the less said the better. And he too, in any other country would have been forced to resign. The crux of the matter - and what the crime statistics point out is police haven't achieved their targeted decrease of 7-10% in crime. Next we'll have foreigners once again voicing concern that this country isn't safe for the 2010 World Cup soccer tournament. Can you blame them? We all want to be positive about 2010. We all want it to be a success. We all want to see more foreign investment in this country. But if we don't clear up crime, all our gains over the last few years - such as the robust economy etc - will be lost. Just over 50 people are killed here EVERY DAY. We're not safe in our own homes, The Times newspaper says. I was feeling fairly positive before Minister Nqakula released the crime stats. If I feel pessimistic, I wonder what foreign investors are thinking? Selebi obviously believes people can live with crime. He had the cheek to say that after the past week's failed terrorism attacks in Britain, no one was questioning London's ability to host the 2012 Olympic Games. He obviously didn't note the drop in BA's shares listed on the FTSE, just after the incidents occurred. No politician should tell us that crime is under control - it isn't. We haven't been fooled - and neither has foreign business. What is the solution? Should we bring back the death penalty? Well, it probably wouldn't help - because the police can't catch the criminals anyway! More visible policing? Maybe. But something MUST be done - and soon. Now news for chocoholics - not all chocolate is bad! The Telegraph reports: A square of dark chocolate a day can lower high blood pressure (probably caused by worrying about volatile markets!) without piling on the pounds, researchers claim. A team of German scientists concludes that a little dark chocolate could offer a much more attractive way for people with slightly high blood pressure to achieve small cuts, compared with traditional low fat diets that can be hard to stick to over the long term. The study was done by Dr Dirk Taubert of University Hospital of Cologne, Germany - AND it wasn't sponsored by a chocolate company. Quote of the Day: Life is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get - Tom Hanks, Forrest Gump. Until Friday Janice Roberts
